Sushi at a Chinese Buffet

What a weekend. Friday, Caroline listened to my diatribe about how AMC ruined Burbank. She puts up with so much shit. I really like her.

Saturday, we had breakfast and bought some flowers for her mama. I then went to flip sausage at the Equestrian Center. Page, Vanessa, and I served up some steaming plates of crap for $7 and the people ate that shit up. Also good to know, we’re getting paid in cash again. I miss the good old days of the Equestrian Center. I’ll spin yarns at a later time. After 11 hours on my feet, I headed back to Caroline’s where I showed her my sausage and cans of Pepsi. We had ice cream. I slept.

Sunday. Mothers Day (Happy Mother’s Day Mrs. Rusca. See you next weekend), I watched the Lakers’ game and headed to my parents house. Again, I asked my mom where she would like to eat. This time she chooses…The Golden Wok Chinese Buffet. Wow mom, thanks (they had sushi). I will have to start picking restaurants for these people. Then we returned to the house and I fixed their computer followed up with another demo on how to compose and send e-mail.

Survivor was great. Go to CBS.com and vote for Rupert.

  1. Out of curiousity, how many times have you showed your parents how to compose and send emails?

  2. HOW AMC RUINED BURBANK -
It is incredibly busy now on the weekends and traffic has picked up. Its turning into Pasadena (at least the parking is free). Its status as the #1 theatre in the nation means more people. With the addition of the Best Buy/Costco/Target complex and continual addition and remodel of downtown Burbank is drawing more and more people into the city. Good for commerce but for the locals its another story. Its not entirely AMC’s fault but that is the biggest draw in the downtown area. The city would be the one really at fault but they are making money so they don’t care. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. While they are adding business’ why don’t they add a Chilies?

  3. I’m confused.

Would it be better if the whole downtown area just closed up shop and boarded up their windows?

Can’t you just avoid downtown on the weekends if you don’t like the crowds?

And Burbank was already ruined by it’s terrible location and sweltering heat.

But that’s just my opinion. :)

  4. Whatever Regul! Why doesn’t the blogger explain himself? All I was saying was that because of the AMC complex, the downtown area is becoming more and more crowded. What was nice about Burbank was that it was away from the busy, hectic life of the westside. Because of the AMC complex, quiet life of Burbank is over. As for the city, Burbank is a great place to live in and well, those who can’t stand the heat need to get out of the kitchen. Some of us gotta live in the Valley so that you stuck up westsideres and your location issues, can have room to be comfortable in your “little piece of heaven.” I do stay away from the mess on the weekends. I am at your house! hehehe

  5. Well I put it out there in a vague sense because I wanted to see if anyone felt the same way. And I think they do. So here’s what I think. Yes, Burbank is a nice place to live. Yes, it’s HOT as FUCK. People came to the AMC (I think they had three in different locations) and they parked their car in plenty of locations.

But now, the street is packed. The parking is missing, and there are too many people to enjoy the surroundings. Twenty minutes to get a table. A long line outside of ColdStone. Too much.

BTW…Jon said (in classic argument style), “Would it be better if the whole downtown area just closed up shop and boarded up their windows?”. Yes Jon, close it all down. That is the only other solution. Some would say the final solution. But if that were to happen, who would lose money? Small independent stores or large corporations? ColdStone, UrbanOutfitters, Tony Romas, AMC…all these companies are most likey getting tax breaks from the city as well as taking customers from smaller independent stores who get no breaks, and have to buy in lower quanties at a higher price, etc. etc. etc.
