Absurdly ridicules or extremely cool, it seems that those are the only two options available to Oakley designers. When they develop something like the over-the-top sunglasses or price their Time Bomb watch at $1500 (I still want one), you have to think “absurdly ridicules”. But then they release the Thump, and you think “extremely cool”. Take a flash drive MP3 player and put it into a pair of Oakley痴, and you have the Oakley Thump.

Thump is available in seven color combinations; comes with 128mb or 256mb of flash memory, and claim a battery life of six hours. The volume controls are located on the left ear stem, and forward, rewind, play, pause, and search controls are on the right stem. The ear buds are mylar speakers with full rotation positing. They even rotate out so you can hear the world around you. The lenses are the standard high quality Oakley XYZ Optics and they flip up if you want to listen to your music but don稚 need the shades.

Using USB 2.0, the Thump can download MP3s from you computer in about five minutes. It works with any MP3, WMA, or WAV file on both Windows and Mac OS 9 or OS X (note certain online music store formats are not supported, including MP4/AAC from iTunes Music Store). It also comes pre-loaded with ten special release tracks by Lil Jon (OooKaaaay).

Currently the Thump is not available for order online and no price or ship date are listed, but you can contact an Oakley representative at 1.800.969.2895.
