Everyday I dread coming to work. I don’t know when it happened, but it’s happening – a lot. I told them when they hired me I would stay at least one year. The year is up on January 20th. I will start think about a new career choice now. Something in the entertainment industry – music, movies, radio, television.
I had yet another business idea.
Last night, while at Blue Monday, an 80′s themed night at a club in Los Angeles, I thought, “why not have a traveling arcade”. At the club, they have several Nintendo’s and Atari’s and such, all hooked up to old TVs and sitting in front of couches. So why not have a company (party planning type) that rents (including set-up and breakdown) old video game machines for 80′s themed parties in the Southern California area. Couple it with a DJ and caterer and you have an “80′s party in a box”. How nostalgic, and you (the party host) have to do very little work. Just another idea. Let me know what you think of it.
BTW – I really enjoy Blue Monday. You should all attend at some point.
I don’t think you should quit your job.
I like your party planning idea for themed parties. I even liked it a while ago when I had it. If you are thinking of only doing 80′s parties then I don’t think it will fly. I say do whatever theme the host wants to do. 80′s could be one of the suggested themes.
Yeah…it’s a different idea because it’s only for “nostalgia” parties. Not Tropical, or Pimp N Ho or anything else. Purely 80′s parties w/Video Games. Different idea.
But I your party planner idea from the past is still a sweet idea. Work and party…I like that idea.
I don’t know Montez. If you want to have a purely 80′s party bussiness I don’t think you will make a lot of money. There wouldn’t be any return bussiness. Maybe if you did a rotation on the bar scene then you could make some dough. You know, like on Tuesdays you are at the Cha-Cha and at the Firehouse on Fridays. Get on some sort of regular tour. Oh, and you’ll need a van.
Sorry, I don’t know if this will work….Los Angeles doesn’t even have an 80′s radio station. Who would be interested in an 80′s party?
Besides me, who would hire you? Sure, you could promote yourself at 80′s clubs but who else would be interested?
I think you are all thinking too narrowly (is that a word). People theme eveything. We live in a city that has specialist in everything. The fact that there is no 80′s radio station means that there might be an increased demand for 80′s themed parties. I must do some research and get back to you.
You do that….in the meantime I’ll be waiting here.
