I just played a $5 sit-n-go. During the game, I had a decent chip lead. At one point, I doubled up ALASKA37. I told him, in jest of course, that I was loaning them to him. Then, with four players left (one seat from the money) the following hand came down. I have added my thoughts throughout the hand. It’s not always about winning the hand, sometimes it’s about maximum extraction.

Heather2003 folds. kronk7 folds. montez75 calls.
alaska37 checks.
for 100 more, I figured I could call and try to take the pot away from his because he was playing really tight at this time.
Flop (board: 2d 4d Ad):
montez75 checks. alaska37 checks.
I just flopped a flush with a straight flush draw. The chances he also has a flush are slim, but possible. I check to try to catch the straight flush. I check to see if he wants to put a bet out. But he checked so I put ALASKA37 on a K or Q of diamonds with a weak kicker.
Turn (board: 2d 4d Ad 5d):
montez75 checks. alaska37 bets 200. montez75 calls.
I just hit my straight flush,, and if ALASK has a diamond, he just made his flush. I check, he bets, I call because I can not lose. I know want to make sure I get every possible chip I can.
River (board: 2d 4d Ad 5d 4h):
montez75 bets 400. alaska37 raises to 800. montez75
goes all-in for 3025. alaska37 calls.
this is a good card and it’s a bad card. The board paired and my opponent could put me on a full house. That would make his flush usless. Or it could have made him a full house and that would be ideal. But I don’t think my opponent has A 4 or anything like that. I think he has a flush, K or Q. I put out a low bet, if I bet too much, he might put me on a nut Flush (Kd if he dosen’t have it). He raised. Now I know he has a made flush, K or Q. He thinks he has the nuts or second nuts. So I raise All-in. If he has the nuts, he’ll call right away, if he has the second nuts, he will still call, but it will take sometime. Let me tell you, it took a lot of time, but he finally called my bet.
Tournament all-in showdown — players show:
montez75 shows 3d 6d.
alaska37 shows Qd 8d.

montez75 wins 6850 with straight flush, six high.
I got all my chips back and ended up beating the table. I consider this “the best hand I ever played”.
Might be the best hand you were ever dealt, not played. Its NOT HARD to play a straight flush. In fact you pushed too hard on the turn, which is where he should have folded. If i were playing against you, I would have put you on a boat or NUT flush which beats me in both cases. You were just lucky to get Him to make a MORON CALL>
