So last night Caroline and I went to the Dodger game. I can’t express how good/lucky Caroline is with getting event tickets, so I wont try. I will however explain to you what happened last night and tell you that it’s pretty much the norm when she is setting up an event. Here we go.
So she looked on CraigsList and found someone who was looking to trade Dodger tickets for a VCR. Caroline just bought a replay and was no longer in need of her VCR so she called the guy, who works at Dodger Stadium, and he left her tickets at the will call office. Then she found a person who was looking to sell his Stadium Club pass (“Dodger Stadium’s private membership club which is only available to season ticket holders”) for $5. So she bought that and the guy mailed it to her. So far, so good. We went to the game last night and picked up the tickets at the will call office. The seats were Inner Reserve, Section 8. That’s at the top of the park. But we have this Stadium Club Pass so we walk to the club level entrance (not a soul in line – this was a sold out game) and walk right in.
We entered on the third base side; the actual restaurant is on the first base side. So we started to walk. Past the suites, past the administrative offices, past the club store, past the hot dog vendor (two people in line), past the bathroom, all the way around we walked. But it was nothing like the regular park. We were walking on plush carpet; there was art on the walls, the history of Dodger Stadium and the Dodgers (did you know that the dodgers played their first years of LA baseball in the Memorial Coliseum where USC now plays it’s home games?) When we arrived at the club, we walked right in.
The reservation line for dinner was a mile long. So we moved into the bar and watched the game on one of the 23 plasma TVs. Caroline wanted some info on the wait. The hostess told her it would be 40 minutes for a table. She came back to inform me. I suggested she grab a menu and we could see how much it cost to eat here. So she went back, asked the hostess for a menu. This must be some secret code, because she looked at Caroline and said, For two, right this way. We followed her to our table, which was a cozy two seater right against the glass on the first base side.
We sat there for the entire game, ate pizza and salad, had some ice cream, and did some people/game watching. It was great. And you cant beat the price. $45 for the whole night; $10 parking, $5 for the pass, $30 for dinner with tip. As a bonus, the Dodgers won the game in the bottom of the 11th with a homerun.
Lakers tix go on sale manana….can’t wait. The only downside, I will have to purchase them from the evilest of the evildoers (drink!)….Ticketmaster. Ugh!
That was a good premise for a MasterCard commercial.
Shoegal should go to staples “armed” with the best heels in her armory. If anyone trips, then let loose.
Go Shoegal, Go!
That’s awesome!
Y’know what else is awesome? This weekend for California Baseball, that’s what?
I don’t have any facts to back up this claim, but this has to be THE best weekend for CA baseball in history.
Oakland/Anaheim going into their final series completely tied up, with the winner taking ALL (and the loser getting NOTHING). It just doesn’t get any better than that. . .
. . .except for maybe Giants/Dodgers in their final series with both teams having a chance for a playoff berth. If the Giants sweep, a one game playoff for the title will ensue.
Here’s the kicker: If the Astros sweep their final series, whoever loses that one game playoff would then half to play a one game playoff against Houston to see who wins the Wildcard! Can you believe this shit?
This weekend is gonna be great.
I don’t think the Giants will sweep (wishful thinking). I will be at the Sunday game, so we shall see!
