“People are allowed to have opinions, and people are allowed to express those opinions…. but that does not mean your opinion is going to be listened too.”
So I read that comment today and thought about how a lot of people respond to being challenged. A lot of times, people send me emails with seemingly harmless attachments. Some contain useless information and request to be forwarded to 15 or so friends. Others contain the opinion of one person, whether it is for or against something, someone, or an ideal. Occasionally, I respond to emails about ideology or “we should do this because ___ (<– insert hate here)”. Sometimes I don’t enjoy the things I get in email, or read on the Internet, so I respond. Why, because I can.
I prefer to respond and voice my opinion, suggesting to someone an alternate view. I am hoping to insight thought within the readers. Of course, in doing so, I may offend or confuse other readers. I might piss someone off. But that is what discussion is about. That is what having an opinion is about. Can we all just get along? NO we cannot. Why? Because we dont all think, act, feel, live, or care the same. Its part of being human.
BTW – my Thanksgiving was great. I spent time with my family and a lot of time with Caroline. I went shopping (for others) on Black Friday (first time ever). I was also very lazy all weekend and I managed to get sick on Sunday night. But I still went to work Mon, Tues, and Wed. I should have stayed home Monday. Now the office is feeling a little under the weather.
Mike, I don’t think you should be able to express your opinion… especially on your own website. You might hurt other people’s feelings, or I might take your message the wrong way. Please abstain from posting any messages which might upset anyone.
P.S. If you forward my comment to 15 people something good will happen to you within the next 3 years.
3 years, I should be dead by then! Killed in a tragic ice cream avalanche at the Ralphs in Los Feliez. TRAGIC!
