I have been spending a lot of time at my gym, LA Fitness. In fact, I haven’t been to the gym this much since college. Usually, a group of us go at lunch for a quick cardio workout. Then, after work, I go back to the gym for some additional cardio and some light weights.
Caroline and I are sticking to our diet and part of that includes going to the gym. But I am begining to understand why some people look to the outdoors for entertainment. I would like to try surfing. But my body is not ready yet. By the time we go to Hawaii for the Buller Wedding, I want to be surfing. Several of the people at Agent Image are surfers. They go before work and sometimes after as well. They talk about the waves, the ride, the peace, the high.
It remindes me of my jogging days. About 30 minutes into the run, there was no one around me. I was on a runners high. It was a great feeling, but one that is lacking when you are straped to a machine. So I need a hobby. An active hobby. Any suggestions?
I would like to do rock climbing. That might be an indoor sport though, since I want to do those man made walls. I would also like to do some hiking. Serious hiking not strolling down a trail. I just joind a kickball league too, which is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. There is a pickup game on Monday if you want to come. My team is maxed out, but you can still join the league. They play pretty close to the house. (Magnolia & 170) Anyway, those are my suggestions…for now.
What about running on the beach? You can start to mix it up with weekend run on th beach. How about racquetball? I am always down with that. I do like hiking. How about get a cheap bike?
Competitive eating is a hobby, right?
Ipod. It’s definitely my cure from boredom on the machines. Slap on a little K-Fed and sing along as others in the gym (without an Ipod) look at you like your weiner is hanging out of your gym shorts…
