Happy New Year – BITCHES

2005.jpg

2004 is about to end, and a new year will begin. In retrospect, it was the year that brought us the following greatness:

  • Janets titty
  • Michael Jacksons pee-pee
  • Pimp my Ride or the rise of Spinning rims on everything
  • Mary Kate in food rehab thin is in, too thin is out
  • I got an iPod just after Brian, just before everyone else
  • The rise and fall (off the face of the earth) of William Hung
  • confirmation of no WMDs and the oh, really that followed
  • Proof that Fundamentalist Christens are willing to sacrifice their children so that gays cant get married
  • The Red Sox (only people from Boston really care anyway)
  • Mars rovers and the aliens who love them
  • Dead women with babies and the people named Scott Peterson who kill them
  • Fahrenheit 911, Bushs Brain, Supersize Me
  • the plummeting value of the American Dollar
  • goodbye to Christopher Reeves, Ray Charles, Marlon Brando, Ronald Regan, Yasser Arafat, the guy from Law and Order
  • Kobe, Shaq, and a crazy white girl who got it in the end
  • gmail – I have ten “invites”, let me know if you want one
  • and of course the greatest event of 2004HALO 2

Im sure I missed something, and Im sure you will let me know what it was.

Have a great Dec 31st, and a greater Jan 1, 2005

Your friend Michael

Christmas Loot – 2004

So it’s been a slow week here in the Wild West. Jon Regul fell victim to the flu, then I suffered the flu’s fate and my body temperature topped off at 101 degrees F. Today is a short day, I looking to leave at 1pm. Everything is done, so Im just waiting for everybody else to cut loose, then Im gonna cut loose, foot loose, put on your Sunday shoes.

To day I received two Christmas gift cards for the people in the office: 1) $15 from Starbucks, and 2) $200 from Best Buy. I think Ill talk an xbox and a chi venti latte, whipped, soy, cream in my mouth, down my chin and all over my tits. Yummmm!

Any, hope you all have a nice extended weekend and Page and Vanessa, have a nice trip, stay cool, see you next year.

The Whole World Outkast

The whole world took a sick day. There was no traffic, no one in the parking garage. Three of the four AEs are sick today. I havent received a call from anybody today. Not one call, it noon. These are the worst days; its so boring. Ive searched every site on my favorites list TWICE. Nothings changed. So I will write to you all, even though you are all at home, sick.

Thursday was the Bay City Televisions Holiday party. It was held in San Diego. That means I have to get to San Diego to enjoy this event. In fact, all the AEs in the office have to get to San Diego. So we did. Driving to San Diego is not bad. It was a very California day (80s with endless visibility). That was the highlight of the trip. Diving to San Diego was the highlight.

Its hard to be close to people who work 150 miles away. Much less, people who work in sales (the fakest and most shallow of all people in business). So as I enter the sales office with the other AEs, everybody is chummy and such, but I am ignored. Why? Because I am the sales assistant, I can do nothing for them and they know that and show me no respect. Fuck them. Time to eat.

Phils Roster of San Diego catered the party. Sadly, Phil over roasted the chicken. Brian would have loved it; it was so dry. Covering it in sauce was an act of futility. So far, the foods a bust, the company is shallow and talking about golf, closing the deal at the Harley dealership, and a desire to bang the chicks in traffic and accounting. Now its time for the prizes.

Holiday parties, from my understanding, are about celebrating your employees for a years worth of work. Some companies give bonuses, some give prizes or gifts. BCTV gives gifts. But it doesnt spend its own cash, instead they make a trade deal. Cheapness in the making.

So lets say you are the ad agency for Best Buy or Good Guys. We come to you and say, Well give you $10,000 worth of TV spots on Fox and UPN in San Diego if you give us $8000 in credit to one of your stores. But we cant grantee where the spots will run, but the combined total value will be $10,000 for $8000. Well that was last year, and last year we had some decent prizes. 32 HDTV, iPods, TIVO, complete 7.1 home stereos. All that stuff. Well, the station ran a bunch of ads for the Good Guys in the worst and lowest rated programs. So this year, instead of $8000 worth of prizes, we had $1500 worth of prizes. Including OPEN BOX items. The balance of stuff was leftover swag (swag is free stuff that vendors and ad agencies send to promote movies, TV shows, music artist, etc.) including SKIN t-shirts (Skin was cancelled in the fall of 2003), Married by America posters and T-shirts, and other junk like that.

Whatever, I hope your office holiday party is better than mine, it shouldnt be too hard to top, but if yours falls short, I have to hear about it, so let me know.

New Years Eve, 2004

Any suggestions?

Caroline sent me a link to a party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. What do you think?

Here’s the link: http://www.daskproductions.com/

I know some of you will be out of town, and some will not. We could have a party at 81st street, head to the beach (Santa Monica is cool), viva Las Vegas, or just cry in our beers. Let me know what you think.

I still don't know who won

Friday was the Entravision x-mas party. It was at the Conga room on Wilshire (cross that place off my list of LA landmarks). It’s very nice inside and the food they served was great. The music was Salsa and Mexican radio hits. The drinks are strong and parking was not bad (if you valet). Everything was paid for. Valet, food, bar, dessert, all paid for. Im glad we sublease from Entravision. That was Friday.

Saturday was Halo 2. All day, Halo 2. After Halo 2, we ate (its always good to mix hours of inactivity with food and soda). Eugene, Toby, Jon and I went to meet a very special guest at Kabuki. I met the girlfriend of Matt; she calls herself Michelle. Michelle is very nice and was pleasure to meet. Then it was back to the house to play more Halo 2. I played until 3 AM, give or take a few hours.

On Sunday, I headed to my parents house to visit work for my parents. X-mas is at their house this year and they have been remolding the kitchen. So I was blackmailed (for my inheritance) to move furniture, paint, and repair any and all electronic devices in the house. It took a while, but its done. I had dinner with Caroline at the Burbank Bar and Grill. I missed the Survivor finale as well as Arrested Development. But thats OK; we have Replay.

Who will replace Tata?

So I am finally returning to my blog. Ready to spew forth the mindless crap that rest inside my brain. I hope you eat it up like a fat man at an all you can eat Red Lobster shrimp event.

So last night, I watched so much great TV, it made me smile. The kind of TV that makes movies afraid. Im talking about Survivor. If you havent seen last nights episode, you are missing out. It was great. I will try not to spoil it, but I think, after much debate, that this is one of the best seasons. And that is saying a lot.

Now many of you are saying, right now, Montez, you said this was the worst season, what happened? Well, as much as the characters sucked in the first x-number of shows, the last nine players have been amazing (except for the one-legged guy, hes as exciting as paint). The final eight players have made the worst season into the best season. Second only to the first season (the OG Survivor). Also, Chris is the best player since Richard Hatch or Boston Rob.

So Sunday is the finale. I cant wait.

Last night I also watched American Casino. They had a new episode on 12/3 and will have a new episode tonight (12/10). Life is returning to normal in the post-Tata hotel. The other characters are getting a little more emphasis. The story lines are short, good and involving. So it looks like the show will go on for a few more months.

So thats all for now. Life is somewhat fulfilling. I have a career move in mind and I will share it with you on or around Jan 27th. Tonight is the Entravision Radio x-mas party. Its going to be held at the Conga Room on Wilshire. Open bar until 10p. I hope I dont get too drunk. You know how open bar can get.
